Overview of Primary 3 Programmes
Read Critically, write creatively
Students learn to read with a critical eye, exploring the works of various authors and inquiring into children’s stories. They develop the ability to summarise ideas, infer meaning, and draw conclusions to engage deeply with a variety of texts. Through guided reading, students also emulate the writing and characterisation techniques of authors to create engaging and authentic stories of their own.
BECOME AN EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATOR
Students participate in regular class discussions and presentations that boost their confidence, enhance active listening skills, and strengthen their ability to express personal ideas and opinions clearly.

CULTIVATE A CURIOUS MIND
Research shows that curious learners tend to achieve better academic outcomes. Our students are exposed to a wide range of themes, such as inventions, food, and nutrition to connect language learning with real-world contexts. These themes ignite their curiosity about the world around them and help broaden their perspectives.
MASTER KEY STRATEGIES AND SKILLS
We equip students for exam success by honing their time management, question analysis, and answering techniques. Regular reviews and personalised feedback further strengthen content mastery and confidence.

CLOSE COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS
Stay informed with regular updates from our teachers about your child’s progress. Each term, parents receive a Learning Snapshot that highlights key strengths, areas for improvement, and personalised recommendations to support your child’s growth.

- Apply Answering Techniques
- Learn to analyse key terms in questions and identify contextual clues within the text to answer comprehension and cloze passage questions accurately.
- Construct Clear and Concise Responses
- Practise writing relevant, grammatically correct answers with precision, using evidence from the text to support responses.
- Strengthen Inference Skills
- Deepen comprehension of texts by making logical inferences and drawing well-supported conclusion
- Master Grammar Structures
- Deepen understanding of grammar topics such as reported speech, gerunds, and infinitives, as well as active and passive voice.
- Strengthen Sentence Construction Skills
- Practice sentence synthesis using correlative conjunctions, question tags, and a variety of tenses to form more sophisticated sentence types.
- Apply Grammar Rules Accurately
- Learn to identify contextual clues and analyse sentence structure to apply grammar rules correctly in both multiple-choice questions and open-ended tasks.
- Reinforce Learning Through Targeted Practice and Reviews
- Regular reviews and practice opportunities help consolidate understanding, clarify misconceptions, and provide timely teacher feedback for continuous improvement.
- Confidence in Speaking
- Participate in in-class discussions and presentations on topics such as personal aspirations, relationships, and the consequences of actions to build confidence and express ideas clearly.
- Foster Active Learning

- Organise oral responses that are logically sequenced and well-supported with simple reasoning and personal experiences.
- Stimulus-Based Conversation and Reading Aloud
- Engage in oral practices that develop clarity, pronunciation and expressive reading, with guided support on picture-based discussion
What goes on in our English programmes?
Lessons are structured to help students investigate the craft of writing with examples from notable children’s literature (e.g. How did the writer make the character memorable? What were some of the writing techniques he used? How can we emulate them?)
Students are encouraged to learn grammar through a mix of implicit and explicit instruction (e.g. noticing patterns in different sentences vs listing of grammar rules)
Students hone their reading skills with integrated phonics components that include catchy songs / rhymes to stimulate their interest
Students engage in a wide range of themes (e.g. biodiversity, young game changers) throughout the year to ignite their curiosity in the world around us
“Develop Your Voice” modules encourage students to be active listeners and articulate speakers
ACHIEVE CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING
Children learn through the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach by recalling and building on pre-existing knowledge. During the programme, your child will explore and apply concepts beyond the syllabus.

UNLEASH CURIOSITY IN MATHS
Research shows that curious children attain better academic outcomes. Children will explore mathematical concepts through open-ended activities and develop a system of generating results from exploration of ideas and concepts. Our Maths tuition programme also extends problem solving through investigation.
COMPUTE WITH EFFICIENCY AND ACCURACY
Children will be able to confidently apply knowledge and address learning needs through weekly exercises and assessments. Each child will be exposed to a wide range of computation exercises and challenging tasks.
ACHIEVE HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PROBLEM SOLVING
Our Maths enrichment programmes guide students in mastering heuristic strategies for problem sums, identify task requirements by exploring similar concepts in different problems, and explore different solutions to the same problem.
ARTICULATE CONFIDENTLY
Children will learn to identify and correct errors, be confident in providing justification for answers and question assumptions made in problem-solving. The Eton Academy encourages children to cultivate an open mind towards learning from and sharing with peers.

CLOSE COMMUNICATION WITH TEACHERS & PARENTS
Receive regular updates about class performance from our teachers. Learning snapshots are sent termly to see areas of strength and improvement and teachers’ recommendations.

What goes on in our Mathematics programmes?
Lessons are structured around weekly investigative problems to help students draw connections to real-life experiences e.g. how much water do we consume in a day? How can we represent it in different measurement units?
Students learn how to apply heuristics to solve a variety of math problem sums
Lessons use manipulatives, hands-on activities and class projects to give students a fun learning experience
Interactive activities and quizzes are used to engage students and check for understanding
Weekly stretch activities are included to help students deepen their understanding of each mathematical concept
Reviews of the prior week’s content are conducted at the start of each lesson to assess students’ readiness and consolidate students’ learning

From observing live specimens to navigating magnetic mazes, our hands-on activities make science come alive! Students develop a deeper appreciation for real-world science as they engage in memorable experiments that spark curiosity and lasting understanding.

DEVELOP SCIENCE LITERACY
Your child will gain the confidence to ask meaningful questions, make logical conclusions and analyse information from experiments. Through guided discovery and exploratory projects, they will learn to present their ideas in a coherent and organised way, building strong scientific literacy.

SHARPEN ANSWERING TECHNIQUES
Students will master key scientific concepts and learn effective strategies to form clear and succinct explanations for open-ended questions. With our targeted approach, they will receive personalised feedback and take part in regular topical reviews to close learning gaps and hone their critical thinking skills.
